Technology refers to skills, knowledge, and techniques that human beings use in their daily life and work. As everybody may find, technology develops day by day. How does the development of technology affect our life? Many people hold the opinion that it is due to the development of technology that human beings have access to the comfortable modern life. On the other hand, a number of people are always aware of all kinds of destructive influence of the technological development on us. As far as I am concerned, the development of technology do far more good than harm to people’s happiness. 

No one will deny that technology helps solve numerous problems and thus make life much better. Firstly, the development of technology enables human beings to find better solutions in industry and in other working fields. With computer technology, we can do work more efficiently and more quickly than ever before, thus less cost and better quality. For example, car industry gain enormous increase recently on account of the great change in assembling as a consequence of the wide spread use of robots. To the well known and familiar example of car industry, many more examples may be easily found，such as the clothing industry and glass industry.

People also benefit a lot in their daily life as technology develops. With cloning technology, we are able to prevent many precious animals and plants from being extinct, so that it is more likely that we keep the ecological balance and we may have more harmonious relationship with nature. With modern drugs and advanced surgical techniques, we have the capability of curing many dangerous diseases and safeguard people’s health, so people enjoy a longer and healthier life. With modern jet planes, traveling to different parts of the world takes only few hours or days instead of weeks and even months.

Considerable though the advantages that the development of technology enjoys are, people should never ignore the disadvantages that the development of technology brings along. The computer makes people relax a great deal, but too much time spent on net games also deprives people of the chance to contact with each other. The airplane makes the world smaller; however, who is going to deny that thousands of people die in plane crash accidents every year? The machine makes work easier, but they give out poisonous gases which expose us to lung diseases and even cancers.

In conclusion, I think although advances in technology may do some harm to people’s life to some degree, most impacts exerted by the forward pace of technology are desirable and beneficial. We should take measures to guide the direction of the development of technology and prevent all kinds of improper use of technology so that we can enjoy more conveniences in both work and in daily life brought by the ever improving technology.
