　　Task1 – Which do you think is the best way for students to know about Italian culture? 1. Cooking class 2. Movie class 3. History class

　　Sample:

　　Italy has a real long history and rich culture. However, I think for someone who has never known anything about Italian culture, cooking class would be a good choice. Italian foods, such as pizza, gelato and lasagna, are famous and popular for most people. And while cooking, students are in a relaxed mood, they are more likely and eager to learn. Maybe meanwhile the teacher can play some Italian opera music and lecture about interesting historical anecdotes. Through listening to fun stories or facts about Italian food making, and participating themselves, the students may just be more interested in other aspects of Italian culture. On the other hand, students could be bored if the school pressures them with thick history textbooks or sophisticated art movies.

　　Task2 – Some people like to purchase a product they like as soon as the product is available in the market, some however, prefer to wait until the price of the product becomes more accessible. Which way do you prefer?

　　Sample:

　　I prefer to wait until the price of certain products comes down. I think it’s just a wiser way to spend money. Most products, especially the high-tech products, are expensive when they first come out in the market, but later the price always comes down. I recall when I was in high school, I really wanted a Nikon camera. It was something my allowance couldn’t afford, so naturally, I saved and waited. To my surprise, after only a few months, the price of the camera became much more accessible and I got it at a nearly 20% discount. So except for emergencies, I wouldn’t mind waiting for a while to get the products I want.

　　Task3

　　由于学生数量增长，学校决定把ice-skating center改成学生宿舍。对话中男生不同意，他提出很多学生喜欢这个滑冰场，周末常去;很多人在上大学前没有玩过滑冰，滑冰场对于新生也会是很好的体验。此外，如果建成新的学生宿舍，离校图书馆就太远了，这样学生每日的往返非常不方便。

　　Task4

　　文章主题是maturation effect, 指的是实验对象可能因为自身成长影响实验最终的准确度。教授讲到一个study，测试锻炼身体对青少年体质的影响。实验开始时科学家们测试了这些青少年的体质，一年后又进行测试，发现他们的体质果然有所提高。但是这不能简单归功于锻炼，也可能是自然生长这个natural process的结果。随着青少年的年龄增长，他们的肌肉强度也会发生变化，这些都对实验结果造成影响。

　　Task5

　　对话中男生负责一个电影的放映，但原定来介绍电影的教授因为家中临时有事来不了了。现在有两个选择：一，男生可以发邮件给大家通知临时取消，同时也在bulletin中贴公告，但还是可能会有人不知情前来;二，由男生自己来做电影的相关介绍，但他不是非常自信，尤其可能无法很好地应对Q&A的环节。

　　Task6

　　教授讲到在沙漠区域动物的觅食方式。第一种是特殊技巧，教授以袋鼠为例，袋鼠的跳跃前进使它们有能力消耗很少的能量走很远的路，从而有更多可能找到食物。第二种方法是把食物以body fat的方式进行存储。教授以一种蜥蜴为例，它们在找到食物时会eat as much as possible, 然后把能量储存在尾巴里。当它们在很长一段时间找不到食物时，就可以通过利用尾巴里的能量得以生存。
