　　A tertiary education exposes students to a wide range of disciplines that help them build a well-rounded knowledge base. Whether in college or university, students can choose classes that center around their interests, or study subjects that they would like to know more about. For example, by taking world history classes, students will expand their knowledge on how the industrial revolution originated, what caused the outbreak of the two world wars, and why America took the lead inthe economic world in the middle of the 20th century. Several basic skills, including critical thinking, decision-making and communication, are also cultivated during the learning process. These basic skills are critical if one is to achieve personal success.
