一.task4详情
综合口语第四题,实际上和托福口语task3在形式上是一致的,都包括阅读,听力和口语三部分。其中阅读部分的主要内容是学术性的文章,会涉及到某一种学术的概念解释概念;听力中不再是对话,而是变成了讲座,举例说明概念;口语部分需要同学们做的就是总结例子,来说明概念。准备时间是30秒,作答时间是60秒
二.答题界面
这是阅读部分的界面,涉及到的是一篇短文,并不长,接下来就是一段听力
这个是听力的界面,教授在做讲座。
听完听力之后,考生就进入了答题部分。
三.答题结构
综合口语第四题的答题结构涉及到了三部分内容,首先就是解释说明概念,这个说明的过程可以融汇到解释例子当中去。其次是复述例子,用自己的语言去复述教授是怎样讲授这个例子的;最后点明例子如何说明概念,和这个概念之间是什么关系。
四.技巧
接下来我们来看一下根据综合口语的阅读文章部分,如何去提取关键信息。
实际上它和综合口语第三部分提取关键信息是类似的。其中需要考生特别注意的是段首的主题句,这个文章大开头第一句一般都会解释说明给我们,当然有时候,这个阅读文章是个背景,是引入、。然后考生应该注意表述转折,让步,因果的逻辑关系词,比如in addition/another/however/also等等。还有考生要特别关注综合口语第四题的标题和标点,一般情况下,它都是作者想要解释的概念。标点可以帮助考生划分层次。
五.题目举例
例1.接下来我们以TPO7task4 Behavior Modification为例,来为大家解释一下。
因为文章比较乱,所以首先,我们根据标点来给它划分层次。首先划分的第一个层次,是Individuals often modify(修正) their behavior based on(根据) what they have learned about the possible consequences。我们可以概括为Individuals modify behaviors based on possible consequences.
接下来我们看看后面的第二句话,When an individual learns through experience that a certain behavior results in pleasant consequences, that behavior is likely to be repeated.我们可以把这句话概括为Pleasant consequences result in repeated behaviors.
文章中的第三部分内容,An unpleasant consequence, on the other hand, discourages (受挫)further repetition of the behavior.我们就可以提炼出来这句话的关键信息。Unpleasant consequences will not give rise to(出现,发生,导致) repeated behaviors.
最后,While behavior modification can be observed in experiments, it also occurs frequently in everyday settings, when individuals change their behavior based on what they have learned about the consequences of that behavior.这部分照应了开头,不仅仅会出现在实验,还会出现在日常生活中,最后扣主题。我们可以提炼为Behavior modification also occurs frequently in everyday settings.
最后,我们把这四部分信息整合一下。In daily life, individuals will change their behaviors according to the possible consequences. Pleasant consequences will result in repeated behaviors, while unpleasant consequences will not make them repeat such behaviors. Such phenomenon is called modification behavior.
例2我们以TPO8TASK4 Revealing Coloration为例来讲述,同样我们以标点符号来划分层次。首先,第一句话Many animals use coloration to protect themselves from predators. One defensive strategy involving the use of coloration is what is known as revealing(显露出来) coloration.(突然把自己的颜色暴露出来)很短的一句话,但是却提供给我们两个关键信息。我们可以转述为Revealing coloration is a method adopted by animals to protect themselves.
接下来,来看我们的具体说明部分。Animals employing this strategy have an area of bright color on some part of their body; this bright color is usually hidden from predators’ view.采用这种方法的动物通常在它们身上会有一些比较明亮的地方,而且它是敌人看不到的。因此我们可以转述为There is a bright color area on the animal’s body, which cannot be seen by their predators.(定语从句)
然后,我们来看看When approached by a predator, the animal suddenly reveals the area of bright color; this unexpected display of bright color startles(使受到惊吓) or confuses(使…困惑) the predator and provides the would-be(可能会) prey (做名词,表示被捕获的食物)with an opportunity to escape.分析句子,when当….时候,approached过去分词,它的逻辑主语是the animal,即当敌人靠近这些动物的时候,这些动物就会突然暴露出来它们的亮色区域。这样就会使它的敌人收到惊吓,然后逃跑。因此,我们可以整合为The animals suddenly expose the bright color area to confuse the predators ,so that they can get away.
然后我们把以上信息整合。Revealing coloration refers to a method adopted by animals to suddenly expose the bright color area on the body. Such behavior makes the predators confused a lot , so that the animals can get away.
例3TPO11TASK4outsider art
首先文章中的第一句话,Outsider Art is a term used to describe art that is made by people who choose to live and work outside society.(定语从句补充说明)即被那些远离这个社会去居住和工作的人所创作出来的艺术,就是outsider art。关键信息是这种艺术的创造者是谁。因此,可以转述为Outsider Art is made by someone who lives and works outside society.
然后我们再来看看The artists who produce this kind of art-Outsider Artists-work in isolation from(远离…..) other artists and have little or no formal artistic training.此处给我们提供了两个关键信息,首先,我们来看看Outsider Artists,来创造这种艺术的艺术家,它们不和别的艺术家住在一起,而且没有受过正规的教育。因此我们可以整合为The outsider artists have no connection with(与…有联系) other artists and seldom have formal artistic training.
接下来,再来看我们后面的内容。
Because they do not learn conventional artistic techniques from teachers or other artists. Outsider Artists must invent their own ways of doing things.这一部分交代了原因,因为它们不会去接受传统的艺术形式,由此造成了它们必须创造出来自己的方式去创造自己的艺术方式。我们在转述的时候可以把因果关系提炼出来。Without formal trainings ,outsider artists need to invent a unique way to create artistic works.
最后,我们再来看看文章最后一部分的内容。As a result of the unconventional methods that Outsider Artists often use, their work can look strange and not at all like traditional art to the observer.正是由于它们用自己的方式创作,所以他们的作品就会看起来很奇怪,和它们看以往传统的信息很不一样。
我们可以总结为So their work seems strange and totally different from traditional art.
最后,我们把这几部分的内容整合起来。Outsider Art refers to a kind of art made by someone who lives and works in isolation with other artists. The so-called Outsider Artists have little or no formal training; all their work usually looks very strange, created in such artists’ own way.
六.常用句式结构
The reading passage demonstrates the definition of (概念)……..that is ……..
……(概念) refers to a/theory/process/strategy/phenomenon/……that…….
